If you want to lose weight, tone your muscles and become the best version of yourself what you do after every workout is extremely helpful. 1. REFUEL

One of the most common mistakes I see happening is people not fuelling after a workout. Don’t feel like eating? Check out some of these pre and post-workout snack options for something lighter.

Protein is important after your workout so that your body can use the protein you are feeding it instead of using its own muscle tissue. Interested in learning more about women and protein? You can read more in this article I wrote.

2. HYDRATE

Regulate your body temperate (especially after intense workouts) by drinking water. You probably sweat, so you need to replace the lost fluid in your body. You knew you couldn’t hear me talking about things you should be doing after every single workout and not have me mention drinking water, didn’t you? Water is the answer to a lot of problems, and will greatly improve your health and wellness results after every single workout and during the day.

3. REFRESH

Hit the shower! I am so guilty of not doing this straight away after every workout. Anyone else? It is so important so that your pores don’t become clogged with all that sweat! You will feel refreshed and energized after a shower. I get it, sometimes you need to work out in a hurry and a shower just isn’t an option. If this is the case, consider using some wet-wipes so you can unclog your pores and take care of any unwanted smells.

4. COOL DOWN

I get it. You finished your workout and you have a long list of things to get done. Resist the temptation to race straight out of the gym or hit the couch if you are working out at home. Take a few minutes, lower your heart rate and cool down. This will reduce the amount of stress on your body. It will also give you a chance to reflect on your workout and all the hard work you just put in. This is important to help notice the mental and physical progress you are making.

5. WORKOUT RECOVERY TIME

So you have been hitting it hard and killing your training lately? Did you know you can overtrain and actually stall your progress? Recovery and rest time is essential in any strength training program. I would argue it is just as important than the workout itself. By recovering properly you will stay injury free but you will also progress more quickly when your body can perform at the best of its abilities after recovering.

6. STRETCH AND FOAM ROLL

Set a time on your phone for 10 minutes and use this time to get a good stretch and foam roll in. Your post-workout stretching routine should include some of these essential and simple stretches for women wherever possible. These stretches will help your nervous system recover and will do a world of good for your muscle tissue which now needs to repair.

WHAT TO DO AFTER EVERY SINGLE WORKOUT

Like anything, the post-workout routine takes a little bit of getting used to. What if I told you it would help get you results faster? These steps will help you to develop the habits you need to see results now and in the future.

WHAT NOT TO DO AFTER A WORKOUT

  1. Eat an unhealthy calorie bomb

  2. Forget to track it or log it for progress

  3. Be lazy the rest of the day

  4. Forget to clean up your area or put your weights away
