Watching TV During a Workout

If you are somebody who loves exercise there is every chance that you like to watch TV at the same time. Exercising can be boring, and it doesn't matter what exercise you are doing, it takes time out of your day, it makes you feel exhausted, and eventually it ends with you losing motivation to continue.

Exercise can make you feel like you are obligated to do it rather than something you are doing for enjoyment, and yes, while you can go to the gym and see the best sports streaming sites on the TV's at the gym, watching TV while you workout at home can be hugely beneficial. We all like to sit down and watch TV at the end of the day, especially if we're watching a specific TV show that we really like. The older we get, the more we watch, and whether you are watching at home while you do resistance exercises or you take your phone or tablet to the gym, there are plenty of reasons that you should go ahead and watch TV while you work out.

If you speak to any personal trainer they will be able to tell you that it's so much easier to exercise when your brain is distracted with something else. Instead of thinking to yourself about how much you hate running on the treadmill or you hate lifting weights, you can watch Breaking Bad. Knowing that you can watch an entire episode of Grey's Anatomy in one workout when you're on the treadmill can be a good way to pass the time without considering the fact that yes, right now, you are exercising. Exercise is often a mind over matter situation because lots of people decide that they don't have the motivation, inspiration or inclination to go ahead and work out even though they know that it's good for them. By putting on the TV, you are giving yourself a good distraction. When you're hiking, it's likely you stream music.

When you are doing yoga, it's likely you have decent music in the background to help you to focus. If TV is something that you like to focus on, then it makes sense to combine exercise with watching TV so that you can make sure that you are actually forcing yourself to exercise. What if you took your favorite TV show with you every time you had a workout? You would be able to spend 40 minutes to an hour watching something you enjoy while pushing your body at the same time. It can feel like no time at all has passed which then makes you want to keep going. If you tie in your favorite TV show to a workout routine, you can kill two birds with one stone and end up enjoying the gym a little bit more purely because you know that your favorite episode of Game of Thrones is going to be next. If you're a sports enthusiast, watching sports while you are on the rowing machine can help you to feel pumped.

Some people on the treadmill love to run at the same pace as other runners. Perhaps you could watch a marathon on a sports streaming site or you could head over to the bikes and watch the Tour de France. Either way, it can give you some inspiration to keep going even when you really don't want to.
