How To Improve Flexibility And Strength In The Body

If you are anything like me you could use a little help in the flexibility department and well, we could always be a little bit stronger, couldn’t we? It’s something that can really affect our body further down the line if it’s not focused on from a young age. Flexibility is needed to help give the body versatility in moving about without causing injury. Strength helps to bear those heavier loads with ease - rather than struggling.

With that being said, here are a few tips for improving flexibility and strength in the body.

Improve flexbility and strength

Do yoga and pilates

Yoga and pilates are two types of exercises that can be particularly helpful when it comes to improving flexibility. As we get older our body becomes less flexible and so it’s important to do what you can to help your body remember, through muscle memory that it is in fact flexible.

Anyone can improve their flexibility over time, it just takes a lot of practice. Yoga and pilates can help to bend the bodies and shape them into positions that you may have never thought possible - even at the ripe old age of 80!

Understand the limitations of your body and push them

There may be limitations to your body such as a cerebral palsy condition that somewhat limits your mobility. However, whatever the case may be, our bodies are capable of doing exceptional things.

Understand what limitations there are and work to push them ever so slightly. There’s no harm in trying to see how far the body can go when it comes to improving flexibility and strength. Chances are, you’ll likely surprise yourself.

Try weight-lifting

Weight lifting can be a great way to help improve strength within the body. If you’ve found yourself feeling weak when it comes to picking things up, it might be that the muscle strength you have is very minimal.

It’s therefore important to consider the benefits of weight-lifting not only to help build muscle but to help give confidence when it comes to picking up and carrying things from day to day. Whether that’s in the workplace or at home, it’s good to feel confident with your body’s ability to bare weight.

Keep exercise varied

In order to keep the body developing both in flexibility and strength it’s a good idea to vary the exercise. Not only does it help dedicate equal time to both, but it also keeps exercise fun. It can often be a little monotonous to do the same thing over and over again.

Having a bit of variety here and there can certainly help improve the fun and enjoyment that can come from exercising.

Take time to stretch every day

Stretching is important because it can help release tension in the body and for those that have been asleep, doing it in the morning can be a good way of awakening the body properly. Taking the time to stretch is good for your flexibility.

You have plenty of time and the good news is you can start today. A little goes a long way. So, work on these things to improve your flexibility and strengthen your body. You can thank me later. Want some help? Work with our strength coaches inside our 8-week program today.
