Robin shares her Dunnebells transformation story

I feel honoured to be sharing my success story here because this story has been a long time in the making and now that I’m seeing all of the pieces fit together - I want to shout it from the rooftops. Every woman who has struggled with how she feels about her body deserves to know that it can change, it can get better and she can heal. Sharing my transformation story after following 8 Week Body Transformation Program could open a door for another woman to see that she can love her body and take good care of herself from that place and that there’s no better feeling than that.

I WAS TOLD I WAS “TOO FAT”

When I was in high school, I distinctly remember a boyfriend telling me that my thighs were “too fat”. Until that point, I hadn’t even considered that my body was not loveable because of the way that it looked. For the next 25+ years - I was at war with my body. My body was never “good enough”. I spent years dieting, restricting, over-exercising, and striving to achieve a body that always felt “just out of reach”.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve eaten vegan/vegetarian diets, done juice cleanses, multiple whole30s, followed quick weight loss diet plan, and sugar detoxes. I’ve believed that my body couldn’t lose weight if I ate foods that were “off-limits” and I spent a lot of time feeling guilty or missing out on things because of the way I was eating.

I’ve always been active - I’ve taught yoga for 10 years and have exercised on and off for my entire life. About 5 years ago - we moved away from the city to live in a small community. I left the gym and yoga studios that I regularly frequented. I continued to practice yoga, but without the presence of a teacher, I found myself avoiding challenges in my practice. Every once in awhile, I’d try to join a studio or a gym in the city but the commute and time always made it impractical to stay consistent.

Over this same period of time, I have been watching my mom’s health deteriorate due to Dementia. She went into a care home 3 years ago and while she’s still with us, she’s not aware of who we are and where she is. It’s been painful to watch her decline and it’s motivated me to consider my ageing and health. I thought about the continual crash dieting and sporadic exercise and realized that I wasn’t doing myself any favours. I knew that my health mattered and that if I wanted to prevent Dementia, I had to get serious about how I was treating my body.

LOVING EVERY INCH OF MY BODY

At the same time, I started doing some serious work on loving my body. I stopped dieting and began to connect to my sensuality. I began to honour my body and appreciate how beautiful all bodies are - including my own. I worked hard at self-love and was finally able to look in the mirror and say, without a doubt, that I LOVED every inch of my body.

Having taken 5 years away from regular exercise plus all of the yo-yo dieting, I had gained quite a lot of weight and had lost a lot of my strength. My yoga practice had become very gentle and I was unable to do a strength-based class anymore. Yet, even though I felt unfit and heavier, I loved my body more than I have ever loved it and I knew now that it was time to make my health a priority and create my own 8 Week Body Transformation Program story.

DUNNEBELLS 8-WEEK WEIGHT LOSS WORKOUT PROGRAM

Working out at a gym isn’t practical for my life but I’m an extrovert and rebel at heart - I need both a community and accountability to stay on top of a fitness program. I decided to sign up for Lucy’s 8-week weight loss workout program because I loved her style, her confidence and I knew that having access to everything online (including a community) would help me to fit workouts into my lifestyle and achieve my own transformation story with Fitness & Personal Trainer in Calgary.

Since joining the Dunnebells 8-week body transformation program - I’ve noticed significant changes in my posture and the way my clothes fit. I don’t weigh myself, but I can feel that I’ve made significant progress towards better fitness and overall health. The progress photos that I take every week show that things are changing!

I feel GREAT and I’ve never once felt that I’ve had to restrict my eating (I’ve been mindful, but I’ve been eating plenty of food!). I still eat donuts every once in a while, I enjoy my food and I now realize that coming at this journey from a space of love has given me incredible results because I’m not trying to change anything other than how healthy I am. Asking for Lucy’s help was one of the best things I’ve ever done for my health and I’m so happy to see that it’s paid off in the form of increased energy and excitement for moving my body again! I never thought I’d say this, but, I look forward to my workouts now!

The best part of this whole story is that it’s just the beginning. This is a new normal for me. The goal I set out to achieve in this 8-week program was to establish a regular habit around exercise and within a month I feel like I’ve already reached this goal. I can’t wait to see where the next 4 weeks takes me! As someone who has always been reluctant to stick to one thing or to fully trust an 8-week weight loss workout program like this - I couldn’t be happier that I decided to say “yes” to myself in this way! Onwards and upwards!
